WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you an increase in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade item.

Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for the latter because of the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item upgrader kit used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the item level, however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new gear. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. In Season 3 the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with several new features added. After a player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies even if those items are from a different set of equipment.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW, players have a couple of options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item upgrades level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for gear with a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complicated can require as much as 20 crests based on the type of equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty to obtain endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it will bring some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an item Level upgrade is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest level possible on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. For instance, it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to avail the discount for all accounts when all slots are filled with top-quality gear.
